About us

image John LaLanne and Matt Walker became acquainted several years ago while riding with a motorcycle group, the Norwestars. Matt, who is an active duty officer in the US Coast Guard, was stationed at the federal building in Seattle. John, a retired football coach from Issaquah, would drive into Seattle once or twice a week and together, they would frequent the various cigar bars in the downtown Seattle area. Then came the dreaded Initiative 901. Before long John and Matt were, in essence, denied their favorite past time of enjoying a great cigar and solving the world's problems. Matt searched high and low for a location downtown Seattle where they could continue to meet up and enjoy a smoke together. He came across a little outdoor park, where he was assured they could light up a cigar and not be bothered. So, it was during one of these gatherings where the idea for the Cigar SmokeEasy grew. John and Matt took their ideas home to their lovely wives, April and Rachelle, and with their support and encouragement, the SmokeEasy became a reality. A years worth of hard work, dedication, and smoking alot of cigars is put into the SmokeEasy each year. What stared out as a hobby for John and Matt has grown. The Cigar SmokeEasy has become more of a focus on creating the opportunity for cigar smokers to come together and enjoy one another's company...without the pressures of society or the dictation of government.

We hope you enjoy your time at the Cigar SmokeEasy and continue to support the cigar manufacturer's and retailers that make this event possible.
